Tien Duc Hoang "Joe"

Tien Duc Hoang entered eternal life on Monday, July 27, 2026 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, De Pham, and his sons, Peter and Steven.  

Born in Vietnam, Tien (Joseph) Hoang was a studious and hardworking man who in his early adult life found himself thrust into the midst of the Vietnam War, serving his country with distinction as a soldier for the Republic of Vietnam. During a time of great hardship and uncertainty, he demonstrated courage, honor, and an unwavering commitment to protecting his homeland. Following the end of the war and his subsequent imprisonment by the North Vietnamese government, he worked tirelessly to immigrate to and build a new life for himself and his wife De Pham in America. 

Like so many immigrants, Tien faced countless challenges as he adapted to a new country, language, and culture. Through perseverance and hard work, he established a life rooted in faith, family, and service. For many years, Tien faithfully served as a custodian for Holy Innocents Parish, as well as a realtor. Influenced by his childhood consumption of American pop culture in Vietnam, Tien was also an avid fan of 70s American cinema and music.

Tien was known for his hardworking spirit, humble heart, and steadfast faith. His legacy lives on through his wife De Pham, and his two children Peter and Steven, as well as the friends whose lives he touched, and the church community he faithfully served.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May his memory be a blessing, and may all who knew him find comfort in the example of a life lived with unwavering devotion to God, family, and community.

Relatves and friends are invited to attend Tien's (Joe's) funeral on Friday, July 31, 2026, beginning at 9 AM at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 E. Hunting Park Avenue (at L Street), Philadelphia, PA 19124. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM.
