Rosa Reyes was our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who peacefully passed away in her home on January 11, 2026 at the astonishing age of 114. Her life was a living testament to strength, resilience, happiness and unwavering love for her family.
Rosa was born on August 10, 1911, in Caguas, Puerto Rico and was raised in El Barrio Mamey in Guaynabo. She later moved to San Antonio, Caguas with her late husband, Saturnino, and that’s where our beautiful family legacy began. Together Rosa and Saturnino had thirteen beautiful children. She enjoyed living in the campo, listening to musica Jibara, cooking, cleaning, and building a beautiful life of her own. On a simple, yet perfect day, she would enjoy her tacita de cafe and galletitas de maria while watching her favorite telenovela or Sabado Gigante. She later moved to Philadelphia with her husband and children where she lived out the rest of her years.
As the Matriarch of our family, she was the foundation of generations. Rosa was blessed with thirteen children; the late German, the late Blasina, Miguel, Ramon, Julia, Abraham, Jose, Carmen, Cristina, Matilde, Elisa, Ana and Luz Maria. She later became the Abuela of forty-one grandchildren, the Bisabuela of over 100+ great-grandchildren and Tatarabuela to seventy great-great-grandchildren. Each one a reflection of the care, wisdom, and strength that she poured into her family.
Rosa was a fierce, God fearing woman full of wisdom, grace, love and compassion. She was a force of nature with a gentle soul. Her love knew no measure of time. She had a way of touching every life she met, leaving a legacy of deep, enduring love that will be felt for generations to come.
“From one rose came a garden, and her family is the living proof of her enduring love. Though the rose has returned to the garden of Heaven, its fragrance remains on Earth forever.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rosa's funeral on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 1019 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. Her visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, 4301 Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
