Mary Wood

September 4, 1936 — May 27, 2025

Philadelphia

Mary Wood, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 despite bravely battling illness for the past two years. Mary was 88. She and her devoted husband, Charles, were married on June 23, 1956. Together, they created a lifetime of memories including fun-filled trips to Las Vegas--a place that brought them happiness and joy throughout the years.

Mary was a loving mother to her daughters, Lorraine Rajkowski and Bernice (Edward) Harris, and a proud grandmother to Matthew, Nick (Jamie), Bonnie, and Logan. She was predeceased by her parents, Stewart and Anna (Morgan) Mills. Known for her infectious laughter and generous heart, she continued to bring light and warmth to those around her, even during the most difficult times. She was cared for with deep love and devotion by her husband Charles and her niece Chrissy Johnson, who remained by her side throughout her illness.

Born in Locust Gap, raised in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, Mary always held a special place in her heart for her hometown. One of her most meaningful memories in recent years was a trip to Mount Carmel, lovingly arranged by her daughter Lorraine.

Mary's legacy lives on in the values she passed down, her enduring love of music and performance, and the unwavering support she gave to her family. During her working years, Mary was a dedicated employee in the work force, and lastly, served as a clerk for the Census Bureau for many years until retirement. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mary's funeral on Saturday, May 31, at Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19115. Her visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery on Hulmeville Road in Bensalem.
