Emma Urbanick

Emma, "Emmy", Urbanick, 98, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, after a brief stay in Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. She is the daughter of the late Ludwig and Therese (Ammering) Holzinger. Emma was preceded in death by her loving husband Francis Urbanick. 

Born and raised in Regensburg, Germany, Emmy met her love, Francis, "Frank", Urbanick during WWII. He was an enlisted U.S. Army soldier stationed in Germany who rose to the rank of First Sergeant, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring.

After WWII, they moved to the states, where Emmy became a naturalized citizen, and they eventually settled in Philadelphia. They were not able to have children but shared their love with many dear relatives and friends. 

Emmy is preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Frances Kuzma, Anna Stanko, Celia Wilchensky, Catherine VanDenplas and Helen Ockovitch. Those also preceding her death were nieces Margaret Kuznowski, Marian Wayno, Gertrude Yavorek, Jeannie Morris, Ruth Castellano, Frances Herbert and nephew Thomas Ockovitch.

Emmy is survived by nieces Evelyn Connor and Nancy Strang, and relatives in Germany, niece Gertraud Kammermier and great-nephew Thomas Kammermier. Emmy also leaves behind many great nieces, nephews, their many children and many loving neighbors who have truly been a blessing and comfort to her all these years.

Arrangements were made through Guckin Funeral Home Inc., 1419 E. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. A Christian burial will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Holy Family Cemetery, 314 Cypress Street, Throop, PA
