Donna Jane Quindlen passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025.
Donna devoted her life to caring for others. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly—often juggling multiple jobs—to provide for her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and her greatest hope was simply for their happiness, peace, and well-being. Even in leaving this world, her thoughts remained with those she loved, trusting they would be okay.
A woman of deep faith, Donna lived as a servant of God. In her retirement, she found great joy in giving back through her parish community at Holy Innocents Church, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and served as a playground monitor at Holy Innocents School and enjoyed spending time tirelessly organizing folders with Sr. Ann—roles she cherished dearly.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jane Vandevender; her sister, Barbara Vandevender; and her niece, Nicole Wuykiw. She is survived by her son, Michael (Elizabeth) Quindlen; her beloved grandchildren, Samantha (Max) Scanish and CJ Rhody; her daughter, Donna; and her granddaughter, Kara.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Innocents Church, and that you honor Donna’s legacy by performing a kind act for someone in need.
Donna's funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 E. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. Her visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. A procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will follow to inter her cremains.
